ABOUT THE TRUST
The Trust was formed in 1998. The Trustees are all unpaid volunteers who use their combined skills and interest to support the cottage.
On 23 May 2008 the Trust was registered with the Charities Commission as a charitable entity under the Charities Act 2005 (Registration Number: CC24776).
On 16 November 1998, The Stoddart Cottage Trust was incorporated under the Charitable Trust Act 1957 (Registration CH/930856).
As defined in the Charitable Trust Act,
"The purpose of the Trust is to administer, maintain and develop the property known as Stoddart's Cottage and the surrounding garden, and to provide other support and assistance with this charitable purpose."
In conjunction with the purpose of the Stoddart Cottage Trust, the Trustees aim, with the help from the NZ Historic Places Trust and Christchurch City Council, is to conserve the cottage and return it, as much as possible to its original beginnings; to encourage visitors and educational programmes to enjoy its historical status and to keep the cottage and garden attractive, informative, appreciated and alive.
The majority of funding for this work relies on donations from the local community and visitors to the cottage. So please help us to maintain and develop this unique cottage for future generations to enjoy, by donating a gold coin in one of the two donation boxes available at the cottage.
Alternatively you can send a cheque made payable to "The Stoddart Cottage Trust" and Post to the Secretary of the Stoddart Cottage Trust
